Responsibilities and Goals

President: General active management of the Association, ensuring orders and resolutions are carried out. Signing and delivering documents in the Association's name. Possesses general powers and duties vested in a Cemetery Association president.
Vice President: Performs duties as prescribed by the Board or President. Assumes Presidential duties in the President's absence or inability.
Treasurer: Ensures accurate financial records are maintained. Responsibilities may be delegated to employees but remain under the Treasurer's oversight.
Secretary: Responsible for recording all actions and minutes of Board proceedings. Provides notices of meetings and distributes minutes to directors.
Assistant Secretary: Provides administrative support to families and cemetery staff.
Reporter: Maintains accurate records of interments, burials, and other cemetery-related documents.
Cemetery Manager: Oversees the daily operations and maintenance of the cemetery grounds.
Food Department: Oversees and manages the food department.

Maintaining Historical Integrity

The Owensville Cemetery West Association works diligently to maintain historical integrity by preserving burial records, protecting historic grave markers, educating the public about the cemetery's African American heritage, and ensuring restoration efforts respect the site's original character. Volunteers and board members collaborate on cleanups, research, and community events to honor those buried and keep the legacy alive.
